When working on branded patterns I spend some serious time feeling out their logo. What is the basic shape? Or more importantly what are the component shapes that make it up? While working with Snowboard Magazine’s ‘star’ logo I became very intimate with all the angles, shapes, nooks and crannies so to speak. ‘Fractions’ is a dissection of that SB mark into it’s possible origins, scattered pieces of 30 degree increments plotted in a puzzle piece manner.

In application for Snowboard Magazine’s DaKine Glove we ran a deconstructed version of the pattern allowing the weight of the graphic to dissipate as it reached the wrist. Lot’s of nice gold highlights and stitching all-over plus a palm of grippy fraction pattern power.
